How it works

Menthol activates TRPM8 cold receptors, creating a cooling effect that inhibits pain signals and promotes muscle relaxation.

Always dilute in a carrier oil (e.g. coconut oil) before applying to skin. Avoid contact with eyes. Not for children under 6.

Why moderate evidence

A well-cited RCT found 10% peppermint oil solution as effective as 1000mg paracetamol for tension headache. Smaller sample size than drug trials.
