How it works

Avenanthramides in oats inhibit NF-ΞΊB and reduce pro-inflammatory cytokine production. Forms a protective film on the skin that reduces trans-epidermal water loss.

Use lukewarm (not hot) water β€” heat aggravates inflammation. Pat skin dry gently and apply emollient immediately after the bath. Oat allergy is rare but possible.

Why moderate evidence

Multiple clinical studies and FDA approval as a skin protectant. RCTs show significant reduction in itch, scaling, and erythema in atopic dermatitis.
